Alicante

One of the most well known Spanish resort towns, Alicante is located between the sea and the mountains in the province of Valencia. A lively city which is spread out around a bay reaching two headlands, it has all of the ingredients you need for a warm holiday with sun and sand.

Alicante is a good place to visit most of the year round, though most tourists will go there in the summer months when it can be particularly hot. The winter months also have their advantages, especially if you want to enjoy the city when it is not so busy.

Alicante travel

Alicante has a long history, dating back to around 400 BC when the Castle of St. Barbara was built. This castle was built by the Romans and later used by the Moors. You can also take a cable car up to this castle and get some stunning views of the city and its busy port. The castle also dominates the city’s skyline at night when it is fully illuminated.

There is no shortage of beaches in Alicante as well, including the Playa de la San Juan which is four miles long and popular not only for bathing in the sun, but also for wind surfing and other water sports.
